NatureMetrics, the nature intelligence technology company, today announces the appointment of Jared Schrieber, as new Chair of the Board of Directors. Jared will focus on steering the technology company’s growth strategy as it further develops its innovative product range and international reach.
Jared brings deep experience scaling product-led technology companies, most recently as co-founder and CEO of InfoScout. Jared led InfoScout’s merger with Market Track to create Numerator, the global market analysis and consumer insights platform, through to its recent unicorn-valuation acquisition.
Jared has served on the boards of several high-growth technology companies, while also having led the growth of two successful tech-powered data startups. Recently, Jared founded Revolution Robotics Foundation, which inspires young people to pursue STEM careers through competitive robotics programs.
Jared Schrieber, Chair of the Board of Directors, NatureMetrics, comments: “Businesses are rapidly waking up to the critical need to reduce their impact on nature and the planet. However, they lack an accurate picture of the situation – especially as it relates to biodiversity. Without proper measurement, they cannot improve. NatureMetrics has a proven solution to measure biodiversity impact, in a simple and scalable way, which empowers companies to make data-driven decisions.
“NatureMetrics is swiftly moving towards its bold vision of becoming the world’s go-to nature intelligence technology company and I look forward to working closely with its world-class leadership team to help drive forward its ambitious plans.”
This appointment comes at a significant moment for NatureMetrics as the business expands following its recent £12m investment round, supported by 2150, Ananda Impact Ventures, SWEN Capital Partners’ Blue Ocean, BNP Paribas Solar Impulse Venture Fund, and Systemiq Capital.
In the last few months, NatureMetrics has grown the team across digital & IT, bioinformatics, operations and product development, as demand grows at pace from businesses around the world for accurate and scalable biodiversity intelligence.
Katie Critchlow, CEO of NatureMetrics, added: “Jared is a force to be reckoned with. His experience scaling and productising innovative technology businesses gives us the additional firepower to move towards our vision faster, as we service a profound market need for better nature data. It’s a critical moment for our business and I’m excited to have Jared on board as we put our ambitions into reality.
“For too long, society has been failing nature because we haven’t had the tools to set and monitor targets – we’re building the solution to put vital data into the hands of decision makers so that it can be understood and acted upon, to preserve it for the future.”
Headquartered in Guildford, UK, NatureMetrics surveys biodiversity at scale using environmental DNA – tiny traces of DNA left behind in the environment by all species, from bacteria to blue whales. The business has already processed tens of thousands of samples for over 500 clients all over the world, helping businesses and conservation groups to survey a wide range of environments from ponds for infrastructure projects in the UK to coral reefs in Mozambique.
As it expands into Nature Based Solutions, it will soon be able to deliver nature data to ESG investors, consumer supply chains and governments, as the demand for solid biodiversity metrics becomes rooted in new financial and government frameworks.
