New Launch: Meet the new Global Nature Risk layer | Find out more

A science-first company for nature evidence

NatureMetrics turns the natural world into evidence organisations can act on, from a single survey to a global portfolio. We built the laboratory, the protocols and the system of record to make that evidence fast, auditable and comparable.

600+ companies in 110 countries manage their portfolio with NatureMetrics

Why we exist

Permits, loans and bonds increasingly hinge on defensible nature data, and a weak baseline is where projects stall. Nature has been hard to measure, harder to compare, easy to contest. We set out to change that.

The shift underneath it is regulatory. Environmental permitting, IFC Performance Standard 6, biodiversity net gain, mine-closure bonds all now demand evidence that stands up years after the survey. That's the record we build.

What we believe

Science first

Accredited protocols, a proficiency-tested laboratory and a decade-long validated archive sit behind every number we report.

Ecological integrity

We measure the living systems themselves and report what the data shows, so the evidence holds up to a regulator, a lender or a court.

Validated evidence

A model points to where risk sits. Validated species data from the ground confirms what is actually there, and makes the result defensible.

One record

Every site, score, survey and report on a single durable record, so nature can be managed like any other material part of the business.

The teams behind the science

Around 40 PhD scientists sit at the core of the company, alongside a wider team of ecologists, engineers and data scientists. A single survey passes through several of these teams, each one providing ecological integrity and defensible results.

Ecology and taxonomy

Field ecologists and taxonomists who design surveys to the standard a regulator accepts and read what the data means on the ground.

Molecular biology and our dedicated lab

Laboratory scientists running accredited eDNA protocols, with the chain of custody and quality control that make a result defensible.

Bioinformatics and AI

The proprietary pipeline and models that turn raw sequence and audio into validated species, comparable metrics and a calibrated condition index.

Geospatial and data science

Earth-observation and habitat specialists who place every site in its landscape context and keep results comparable across a portfolio.

Software and platform

The portfolio dashboard and system of record that centralises nature data across thousands of sites.

Nature Strategy and Advisory

Advisors who take on the screening, interpretation and strategy for teams who want us to lead the work.

An archive of data, built over a decade

We have collected and validated species and habitat data to the same protocols, in the same laboratories, across more than 110 countries. That longitudinal, calibrated archive, and the proprietary bioinformatics and AI that turn it into evidence, is the part that cannot be bought or modelled after the fact.
